WOMEN AND MATHEMATICS 
A Program for Winning Women into Mathematics
Administered by the Mathematical Association of America
WOMEN AND MATHEMATICS PURPOSE
WAM is designed to:
- Interest young women in mathematics by providing role models and
mentors.
- Motivate students to take as many mathematics courses as
possible in order to be prepared for the college major of
their choice.
- Acquaint guidance and advising personnel with the importance
of mathematics to all students and with the many career
opportunities open to women in mathematics and
mathematically-related fields.
- Reach teachers, counselors, parents and others who influence
course selection, with information on the need for a strong
mathematics background in many traditional and emerging
careers.
