Long Stripes Scarf

Sizing Information

52 inches long (62 inches counting the fringe) by 7.5 inches wide,

Gauge: 4" swatch = 26 stitches and 14 rows


Materials

  • COLOR A (Caron Simply Soft (Chocolate) (less than 1 skein))
  • COLOR B (Caron Simply Soft (Plum Wine) (less than 1 skein))
  • COLOR C (Caron Simply Soft (Pink) (less than 1 skein))
  • Size 8 (5mm) knitting needles
  • Yarn needle or large darning needle


Instructions

Body of Scarf

  • Cast on 180 stitches with COLOR A. Knit 5 rows.
  • Change to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
  • Change to COLOR C and knit 6 rows.
  • Change back to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
  • Change to COLOR A and knit 6 rows.
  • Change to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
  • Change to COLOR C and knit 6 rows.
  • Change back to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
  • Change to COLOR A and knit 6 rows.
  • Change to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
  • Change to COLOR C and knit 6 rows.
  • Change back to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
  • Change to COLOR A and knit 5 rows.
  • Bind off in COLOR A
  • Weave in your ends with a yarn needle or large darning needle

Fringe

  • There are 7 tassles on each end of the scarf.
  • Each tassle is 9 strands each of COLOR A, COLOR B, and COLOR C.
  • Place first two tassles so that each one is near a corner. Add the third tassle in the center. Add two more (4th and 5th) so that they look evenly spaced between the end and center tassles; repeat on the other side with 6th and 7th tassle.
  • Repeat the above on the other end of the scarf.

  • Cast on 180 stitches with COLOR A
  • Row 1-5: Knit with COLOR A
  • Row 6-7: Knit with COLOR B
  • Row 8-13: Knit with COLOR C
  • Row 14-15: Knit with COLOR B
  • Row 16-21: Knit with COLOR A
  • Row 22-23: Knit with COLOR B
  • Row 24-29: Knit with COLOR C
  • Row 30-31: Knit with COLOR B
  • Row 32-37: Knit with COLOR A
  • Row 38-39: Knit with COLOR B
  • Row 40-45: Knit with COLOR C
  • Row 46-47: Knit with COLOR B
  • Row 48-52: Knit with COLOR A
  • Bind off with COLOR A
