The Estimator: Teaching Statistics Through Experiments
Abstract:
The Estimator is a set of visual experiments used to gauge a person's ability to judge size or memorize location. Run as a HyperCard Stack the Estimator collects a wide range of data for student analysis. As students progress through the course they are encouraged to determine how they can use the data and what the data tells them. The Estimator provides a common thread throughout the entire course as students begin with simple charts and graphs and finish with hypothesis tests.
