Here are some simple, I hope,
instructions for the Estimator Demo. First of all you need a Java
capable browser in order to run the Demo. Given that, a rectangle
will appear in the upper left quadrant (quadrant II), this is
generated by the program. Another box will appear in one of the other
three quadrants, this box is for you to work with. Within the
quadrant, click the mouse where you wish the corner to be. Arrow keys
can also be used to resize the rectangle, this is good for small
adjustments. Try to size it the same as the rectangle in quadrant II.
When you believe the two have the same dimensions click in quadrant
II to compare. The following data is recorded by the program:
- Width and height, respectively, of the box in
quadrant II.
- Width and height, respectively, of the box you
adjusted.
- The quadrant of the box you adjust and the
trial number.
Type 's' to view the data. You can then cut and
paste the data into a word processor or text editor and save
it.
To clear the data you may need to force your
browser to reload the page from the site, as opposed to the browsers
